As the warmer weather approaches, so does the need to ditch our closed toes shoes for the more liberating thongs or sandals.
However, for those who suffer from heel, foot, lower limb or even back pain, the thought of what to wear can be very troubling.
There are a lot of great summer footwear options! But before you go jumping in to your favourite summer thongs, here are some tips for choosing the best footwear:
- Buy the right size – your heel and toes should not extend past the base and top of the shoe
- Have some arch support – this will help support the fascia that runs on the sole of your foot
- The shoe bends at the ball of the foot and not in the middle
- Replace them as they wear down
At Ormond Physiotherapy we currently have Archie’s Arch Support Thongs which are a great example of supportive summer footwear.
Archies have an arch support similar to that of off the shelf orthotics and also have a heel cup to ensure your foot stays in the correct position! A tighter strap helps to reduce clawing and the soft memory foam reduces the load of your long summer walks, meaning that you’ll be up for less pain!
There are an array of colours, so there is a pair for absolutely EVERYONE!
For the remainder of December Archies are on special at Ormond Physiotherapy! Buy 2 pairs and get the 2nd 20% off!
