Sporting injuries happen, but the team at Ormond Physiotherapy are here to help you get back to what you love in the quickest time possible! As Ormond Physiotherapy is a proud supporter of local sporting clubs in the Ormond, Bentleigh & McKinnon area, our team of experienced therapists are here to help you should you injury yourself during exercise or while participating in sport.
Although being active offers many benefits, sometimes our bodies don’t play their part and we get injured. Sporting injuries can occur at any age, and come in many different forms.
The most common sporting injuries include;
- Ligament / Joint Sprains
- Muscle / Tendon Strains
- Knee Injuries
- Joint Dislocations
- Shoulder Injuries
- Contusions (i.e. corkies)
The best thing you can do for a sporting injury is to get it assessed as soon as possible, immediate assessment and treatment will ensure that your return to play is a quick as possible. A thorough assessment will be completed by one of our physiotherapists and a diagnosis will be made. Should further diagnostic tools be required, such as X-Ray, Ultrasound or MRI, your physiotherapist is able to refer you for these.
After an assessment, your therapist will develop a treatment plan with you. This will outline how you can expect your injury to progress, and what steps need to be taken to get you back playing as soon as possible. Your plan may involve a combination of physiotherapy, remedial massage, exercise physiology and Pilates. Your therapist can also liaise with your club or coach to ensure you are returning to training at the correct time and are completing the proper loads.
